Fun Friday

Today was a fun day for me. I woke up this morning to the kids bringing me breakfast in bed. Cold cereal and a glass a water. It was really thoughtful of the kids. Then we decided once we got the house cleaned up we would make cupcakes and decorate them for Halloween. I was overwhelmed with the response from the kids. They wanted to do everything and they did most of all the cleaning. It was awesome. They cleaned up the house in record speed, vacuumed upstairs, downstairs and the stairs. The washed windows, helped with mopping, cleaned toilets. It was so excited to see them so willing to help. I usually spend hours getting after them to just pick up their rooms.

So after 2 hours of cleaning, that's right they cleaned for two hours! We made some chocolate cupcakes. We were in a chocolaty mood so we put chocolate pudding inside as well and they set to decorating. They made a flower, a ghost, 2 scary dinosaurs a skeleton man and vampire. Good luck guessing which one is which! Gabe is covered in chocolate and very happy. I am very happy I have a clean house, chocolate cupcakes and awesome kids!

We have a BYU fan

We were watching BYU vs TCU on Thursday night and discovered we had a BYU fan. Gabe was sitting and watching football intently with Jeff and with each play he would cheer or groan with Jeff. And boy was there a lot of groaning going on at our house tonight. But on top of that Gabe has figured out the players names. As they were playing Gabe's remarking there's Maxy, where's Max, he's good. When's he coming back to play. Maybe good ol Max will have a better game next week :(

Angry Mobs?

So right after I shut off the computer for Gabe's comments on conference Kelsi said one. I cant remember who was talking but they were talking about hardships and the pioneers with the mobbing and still staying good honest citizens. Anyways we had a bag of halloween candy and if they kids could tell us who was speaking ( I know ironic I cant remember his name now ) or if they could tell us what the speaker was talking about they got a candy bar. So Kelsi is watching with great interest because snickers are a really good motivator. She looks over as they are talking about the mobs and says I got it they are talking about angry moms, points her finger at me and starts laughing... gee thanks... needless to say Jeff gave her a snicker!

President Eyring's talk

Gabe was watching Sunday morning conference with us. We were watching President Eyring's talk on the Holy Ghost. Apparently Gabe connected with President Eyring for a couple of minutes and he got through to him. Here is what Gabe got out of his talk.
Gabe: "He's talking about the Holy Ghost, he says the Holy Ghost is good, not scary"
"He (President Eyring) is nice isn't he?"
"He is teaching me and he dosent take away my toys"
"I better hide my truck so mom dosen't take it away from me"

Brotherly Love

Tory the other night was throwing a massive fit because she had to be in her car seat. This was Gabe's and Kelsi's reaction to her screaming in their ears. Kelsi tried to soothe her, sing to her, rub her tummy or face. She was trying her best to comfort her and reassure her that everything was ok. Gabe had his fingers plugged in her ears and was saying over and over there are no monsters, stop crying, there are no monsters, I will protect you from the monsters. There are no monsters!

Like Father Like Son

Jeff is a complete t-shirts and jeans guy... he hates button up shirts or dressing up at all if he can help it... When he comes home from work he doesn't feel like he is done with work until he can get into his trusty t-shirt and jeans. When we were first married it was almost painful for him to put on a polo shirt or a button up shirt unless we were going to church... well irronically enough he passed this down to Gabe. I have tried hard to break the link I have been putting Gabe in button shirts since he was born, lots of fun shirts. For example he has a cute scooby doo shirt, which is normally his favorite character, but he wont wear it because it has buttons. But lately he has decided to go to the dark side. The other day he took it to the next level. I was picking up the toy room and I found a ton of buttons and I could not figure out where in the world all those buttons came from, well guess what I found next time I folded clothes. That's right a button up hawaiian shirt with all the buttons cut off. He must have found the kids scissors and decided to take matters into his own hands. I wish he would have just taken the shirt off! Of course Jeff thought it was hillarious and Jeff's parenting rule # 1, if its funny they dont need to get in trouble. Guess I better stock up on t-shirts now or have a lot of thread and needles in stock.
