Like Father Like Son

Jeff is a complete t-shirts and jeans guy... he hates button up shirts or dressing up at all if he can help it... When he comes home from work he doesn't feel like he is done with work until he can get into his trusty t-shirt and jeans. When we were first married it was almost painful for him to put on a polo shirt or a button up shirt unless we were going to church... well irronically enough he passed this down to Gabe. I have tried hard to break the link I have been putting Gabe in button shirts since he was born, lots of fun shirts. For example he has a cute scooby doo shirt, which is normally his favorite character, but he wont wear it because it has buttons. But lately he has decided to go to the dark side. The other day he took it to the next level. I was picking up the toy room and I found a ton of buttons and I could not figure out where in the world all those buttons came from, well guess what I found next time I folded clothes. That's right a button up hawaiian shirt with all the buttons cut off. He must have found the kids scissors and decided to take matters into his own hands. I wish he would have just taken the shirt off! Of course Jeff thought it was hillarious and Jeff's parenting rule # 1, if its funny they dont need to get in trouble. Guess I better stock up on t-shirts now or have a lot of thread and needles in stock.

The Wait is Finally Over

The wait is finally over The Office premiere is tonight!!!! I am so excited!!! I am so excited to see what happens with Michael and Jan, does he finally get to be a dad? What about Dwight and Angela, did anyone see what happened at the season finale coming? What about poor Andy or is it going to be poor Dwight? What about Ryan is he going to get out of jail? And the big question what about Jim and Pam? She goes off to school in New York are they going to be able to make it? Jeff has a mean streak and keeps telling me they are not going to make it! Any predictions or am I alone in my own little Office world?

Proof

I just wanted it documented somewhere, that I did teach Kelsi how to do the dishes and that she enjoyed it at one point in time... cuz I am sure it is going to go downhill from here.

Observant!

Opening Presents

Here is a couple of shots of Kelsi on her birthday, she had a good day. Jeff woke her up early before he left to work so they could eat breakfeast together. She loved that alone time with him. She trys hard to wake up before he leaves so she can have minute with him. Then she got to go to school and bring a treat to everyone, she brought her favorite, doughnuts, she loved being Ms Moon's special helper for the day. Later that evening she got her favorite dinner, opened presents and got to do one of her favorite activites swimming! She had a great day.

Birthday Party

I survived a birthday party for 20+ kids this weekend... holy smokes was it a lot of work! But Kelsi had a blast. It is so fun to see your child feel so special, everyone wanted to be by her and play with her. She got spoiled rotten. We did simple games like hot potato, charades, red rover and everyone seem to enjoy themselves. I attempted a princess cake, which I am conveniently not posting a picture of ( I learned the trick to cake decorating the next day... freezing the cake, boy that would have been useful info!) But Kelsi thought it was the prettiest thing she had seen... she came in with her mouth open and big eyes, so that made it worth it! It was a fun day for Kelsi and I believe every kid deserves to be spoiled like that every once in a while.

Spotlight

Today I wanted to spotlight my little girl Kelsi, she is turning 6 today. I cant believe it, time flys by so quickly. Kelsi is such a sweet girl, she had such an enthusiasm for life. She always has a big smile on her face. She works so hard to make sure that everyone around her feels welcome and that they know she likes them. She works hard and plays hard. She is such a pretty little thing, we are going to be in a lot of trouble as she gets older!
She loves being a big sister, she is so caring to her younger siblings, maybe to much at times :) Gabe adores her and looks like a lost little puppy every time she leaves for school. Tory loves having Kelsi come and play with her and Kelsi can always get a big grin out of her.
Kelsi loves us as parents as well, she is constantly working on making sure we are happy and proud of her. She of course all ready makes us proud everyday for who she is. She is recently really turning to her Heavenly Father and finding her own testimony. We walk home everyday from school and as we were walking home the other day she told me she got really sad and really missed me and so she decided to pray to Heavenly Father to make sure we were ok and that she would feel better...
We love you Kelsi

Kids

The kids have been making me laugh quite a bit this week with some of their stunts / sayings.

Gabe went to the grocery store with me and wanted to do his own shopping so he would just toss things in the cart, I managed to get most of them back out but when I came home and put things away a few still got by me.... namely budwiser wing sauce. Guess that will be sitting there for awhile. When I asked him what this was, he said my stuff that I got at the store.

Our bishop has asked us to go through Preach my Gospel and study it together as a family. So we were doing part of that for FHE last night. Jeff was talking about missionaries and what they do and asked Gabe to basically repeat what he said. So Gabe said that Missionaries were horses and started to explain to us what horses did... I still dont know how he made that connection.

And my favorite....
Kelsi Sunday evening, mom I know how to say thank you in spanish, my teacher taught me..
its grassy ass....

Ha Ha Ha!!!!!

Bugs vs Bugs

Here is a copy of the conversation I had with Kelsi today on our walk to school

Me: Stop touching Tory's face, Kelsi we have asked you not to.
Kelsi: Why?
Me: Because you'll give her a bug and I dont want her sick
----Long Pause----
Kelsi: Mom can ladybugs make you sick?
Me: (Confused) What?
Kelsi: You know you said that if I caught a bug I would be sick.
Me: Oh, (laughing) No I meant a virus
Kelsi: So ladybugs dont make me sick
Me: Nope

His Hero Hat

In response to Amanda remark on Gabe's whip

Gabe has been really wanting a cowboy hat for a really long time and he found this ugly piece of crap green thing at the dollar store and he was in love. When he put it on it made him look like someone from the village people. So I insisted on getting him a cool hat, good thing they have a lot of costumes out right now. Anyways I found this Indiana Jones hat and he put it on and he looked so cool. So I decided right then he was going to be Indiana Jones for Halloween and have been buying him little pieces of the costume here and there. He loves the whole ensamble. He called himself a hero every time he puts it on. We even have people on our walk to get Kelsi from school sit outside and wait for him to walk by to tell him everyday what a cool hat he has. He cant go to a store without a ton of people commenting on it. He looks so cute in his new hat & whip. Well now that I have posted all of that I should post of pic of him with the hat and whip... I'll re add this comment so you can read it twice :)

High School Tag

1. Did you date someone from your school? No

2. What kind of car did you drive? I did not know vehicle makes then, so all I can tell you is most of the time a beat up farm truck, then a little blue car that saw then end of its days with me and then my parents jeep cherokee at times.

3. What was the most embarrassing moment of HS? I was in Junior Miss and one day when we are practicing one of the walks with heels I stepped back and stepped on someones foot and we all started laughing really hard. Well I laughed hard enough to pee my pants in front of them all. I was soooo embarrassed... maybe thats why I got miss congeniality?

4. Were you a party animal? No I was really shy

5. Were you considered a flirt? No

6. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? Band, I played the flute

7. Were you a nerd? No I would not consider myself a nerd, more of a jock, I did a lot of running on track and cross country.

8. Were you on any varsity teams? Cross country and track

9. Did you get suspended/expelled? No, I never broke the rules

10. Can you still sing the fight song? Nope

11. Who were your favorite teachers? Probably Brother Huff my seminary teacher and Russian teacher. He was funny.

12. Where did you sit during lunch? When I went to school we did not have a cafeteria in the high school so we walked 3 - 4 blocks to the Elementary school for lunch. We sat everywhere, the funnest part of lunch was walking together with a bunch of friends to lunch.

13. School mascot? Bulldogs

14. Did you go to homecoming, and with who? Senior year Ben Georgia. I feel really bad about it now but when he asked me I cried because I really wanted some of the other guys to ask me. But we had a really good time.

21. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? Nope missed it.

Congrats Taylor

Our nephew Taylor made the choice to be baptized on Saturday and we are so proud of him and the decision he has made. We were unable to attend the baptism but our thoughts were with him the entire day. We are excited that he has been such a good example to Kelsi. She was so excited to hear about his baptism and it makes her even more excited for when she turns 8 and is able to be baptized as well.

Soccer

Kelsi started soccer on Saturday, she did really well. There is 5 players on her team and 3 play at a time. The first couple of quarters Kelsi was really nervous. She would run around and be by the ball the entire time, but there was a lot of bees out and ever since she got stung she has gotten really nervous about them. So her coach promised her that he would watch out for any bees and scare them away because he was not scared and that seemed to do the trick. About a minute later Kelsi got a break away and scored a goal!!! Yea Kelsi!!! She is a lot more pumped about it now and really excited to play again on Saturday.

Trip Down Memory Lane

Last weekend when we were visiting with my parents my mom dragged out a couple of fun photos from when I was little. There was one that I still need to get even with Eric one, one shot is him looking into my backpack while I was standing next to him and the next is of him pulling something out of my backpack with such an innocent expression on his face while I sitting their smiling oblivious to anything going on.
This picture is of me in front of my grandma Luthy's Christmas tree. Going to my grandparents after Christmas at home was always one of my favorite childhood memories. We would go up to Bone earlier and we would pick out the best Christmas tree we could find and do a lot of sledding in the mountins. On Christmas all the grandkids would gather anxiously around the christmas tree as my grandma would hand out the presents. Now that I am getting older a lot of her presents that were made to be used mean to much to me to use them, such as hand stitched character dish towels, afgans, ect so much to grandma's dismay and a lot of finger shaking I put most of them away in my cedar chest. When we were through unwrapping the gifts we would almost always end up in a wrapping paper ball war, which I am sure you have all done. Then we would have a big Christmas dinner. Grandma would make our favorite chunky chicken noodle sauce and we would drown our mashed potatoes in it. We would eat until we were stuffed. I have always enjoyed getting together and celebrating together. What is some of your favorite childhood / holiday memories?

My husband is hot

Of course you all know I love Jeff to pieces, but darn him he lost his wedding ring. We spent 2 nights searching the field where he lost it hoping by some miracle that we would run across it but of course we didn't. He lost it in a field with a lot of long grass and a lot of patches of dead grass not an ideal place to look for a little gold ring. So it has been about a week since he has lost it and he is all ready getting flirted with! He went to the gym last night to swim some laps and some 17 year old was trying to flirting with him!! He came home laughing and feeling pretty good about himself. But of course I have always know along how hot he is and how lucky I am! I better get a ring back on him soon!

My First Full Night of Sleep in 6 months!!

I am so excited I finally had my first full night of sleep the other night. It has been 6 months having to get up! We moved Tory over to the crib this week and I was prepared for screaming all night long since she is so stubborn, but she has been sleeping like a champ! I am so excited. Now we just need to get Gabe to stop dreaming that dragons are eating him and we will be good!

Idaho

This labor day weekend we went up to spend some time with my parents. As always it was very nice and relaxing. The kids miss their grandpa and grandma Luthy a lot and always have a lot of fun when we are there. I was so disappointed because I remember my camera was on the desk around Brigham City, so no photos this time. Kelsi spent a lot of time out in the "forest house", she loves that house, all the makings for a great place for a little girl to play. A nice log cabin exterior, and big slide and a big play kitchen with tons of play food for her to play in.
Saturday we started the day by getting some good boating in. The water was a chilly 68 degrees and it took a while to get warmed up but once you did it felt so nice. Jeff of course did an awesome job skiing and I had a lot of crashes but a lot of fun. But I am proud to say I did most of my falling on the single ski and got a good run in before my arms and legs gave out on me. We got Kelsi and Gabe in the water once or twice, she wanted to show off her new swimming lesson skills, but the water was just a tad bit to cold for her and she sat shivering under wet towels the rest of the time. She did enjoy a nice ride on the tube by herself this time!
When we got home from water skiing we decided to head up to mountains and do some huckleberring. We found a patch and got started. Kelsi was so excited to get the berries, they are so yummy and she probably ate half of what she put in her bucket and Gabe just ate everything he picked, but the bees were a little possessive and they got their revenge on my mom's arm and Kelsi's lip. So needless to say we did not get to stay to long.
We came home and the kids roasted hot dogs and we made smores, note we changed the chocolate out for a Reese's peanut butter cup, super yummy, I'll never go back!
The next day we went to church and my grandpa and grandma were the speakers and both gave a very good talk on faith and courage and having a good balance between the two. It was a very good talk, I loved listening to them. We spend that evening with my aunt Melinda and her husband Jeff and my aunt Jan. We had an good time visiting together.
Then Gabe got sick :( So we left Monday morning to come home and made it home with only one incident, thanks mom for the bucket saved ours! We spent the rest of the day getting caught up and just enjoying being with each other.
Today Kelsi gets to go back to school and she was up at the crack of dawn excited to go back. This time she stays on track until November. She is very excited.
